Urgent Care

Urgent care is the practice of medicine that provides immediate outpatient medical services for the treatment of illness and injury, usually within 24 hours of onset. Urgent care physicians have a knowledge base and skill sets similar to those of family and emergency medicine physicians, but each specialty is unique. Urgent care physicians, who treat both male and female patients of all ages with unlimited complaints, usually focus on acute medical problems, while family medicine doctors usually focus on chronic health issues. Emergency room physicians handle life-threatening situations, such as heart attack, stroke, chest pain, severe bleeding and head injuries.
